About Medsource
General
Medsource was founded in 1997 by Dr’s Huisamen and Van Niekerk – both doctors with ship board experience. We have recruited doctors and nurses ever since – with the prime purpose of finding placement on ships – and have steadily increased the number of ships available to work on.
Dr Huisamen left the agency in 2003 to pursue further studies, leaving Izak Van Niekerk the only remaining member. Caroline Murray, a registered nurse with extensive ship experience, has joined Medsource in 2005, and will assist in further improving the service to medical staff and the ship companies.
Medsource has always strived to build up and maintain strong, long term relationships with the various ship companies, and we are confident that a doctor or nurse will find a safe and stimulating environment once on board. The fact that 90% + of our recruits return to the ships for further contracts, is probably the best indication that life at sea is a good job!
